It is rumoured this morning that the Governor e\pies»ed .in opinion privately against the dissolution <>f Parliament. This must bp t.iken cum grano Halis. howover, as his Excellency is not likely to express such an opinion unless lie was asked for a dissolution, and th.it has not b u.en decidftd on by the Cabinet yet. The Premier returned this morning. Tho Hhip Hurunui has been admitted to pratique. Miss Welchman, the typhoid fever patient, will probably be allowed ashore to-morrow. Tho Sanioan chiefs have visited the Gear Me.it Preserving Company's works. Subsequently tliey went on board the freezing hulk Jubilee, but declined to enter the freezing chanibeis. They were shown, however, a quantity of snow, which, to th'MH, was an article they had never seen before in their lives. La Seur, the bookmaker, is again in trouble, having used threatening and indecent language to Mr Goldsmith, formerly secretary to the Island Bay Racing Club, in the Telegraph Office on Monday. Le Sem apologised to Mr Goldsmith, and handed in a cheque for five guineas towards the Stratford relief fund. It was therefore supposed that the cisc would drop, but as( the affair is one which affects the public morals, the police intend to prosecute, and a fresh informition will be laid against Tjs Seur. It will be remembered th.it Le Sanr had a quarrel at the Otahnhu races in Auckland some weeks since, and in which he got considerably the worst of it. Major Ecfles has reiigned his appointment as aide-de-camp on the Governor's in order to return to England. Hi-* Excellency has appointed Capfc. Spencer Mansall Medley, R.N., to that position.
