THE LATEST. [Received January 20 1 p.m] M elbourne, Wednesday.
The primmer who stands charged with the Collingwood bank robbery, w.ib brought, up in' examination yesterday, and remanded for further evidence. A caucus of the Liberal party, comprising twenty-one leading members, was hold y^terday, when Mr De-ikin was appointed taader of the party in the place of Mr Berry. The question of a Ministerial change was then dismissed, with the result that Mr Deakin was empowered to accept Mr (}illi3.s' proposals for a coalition Ministry, with equal representation for each party in the Cabinet. It is further stipulated th\t the protective policy should be maintained, and that the educational system should remain intact.
