The total being in excess of county funds, the most necessary works were selected to the amount of disposable funds. : * TeAwamutu Poonix— The town board wrote requesting the council to empower the town poundkeeper to impound cattle &c. straying on the county road. The request was agreed to and a resolution was adopted to give effect to the wish of the board, Mangapixo-Aiexandba Bridge.— The 'Alexandra Town Board called the attention of the Council to the state of this bridge. The engineer also expressed his opinion that the bridge had reached the safety limit. The eugineer was directed to overhaul the bridge, and report to next meeting. Butchers' Licenses. — The licenses applied for were all granted. It was agreed to delay taking proceedings against those who had not applied for a license until after next meeting. Tenders. —The following tenders were received for painting the Cambridge bridge, G. Gapes, £30 10s; D. Henderson, £79. The tender of >G. Gapes . was accepted. For works at Tuhikaramea the tender of C, McCullum was accepted at 4s per chain formation, 4 s p er chain ditching, and 8d per yard for carting and laying pipes. „•' Charitable Aid Aot.-sA. circular Vm received from the Waikato County Councildebating steps to resist the Act. After considerable discussion.it was finally agreed to join neighbouring counties in resisting theAot, and to memorialise the House on the subject. The clerk was directed to prepare a" statement of. expenditure in each ridingduring the previous three years. This concluded the business of the meeting.
