WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of the council was held at the chambers at Ohaupo on Tuesday. Present :— Mr F. 0. Gennann (chairman), Cis. Fisher, Grice, Lang, Corboy, Kidler, Smith, Moncieiff and Teasdale. Government Subsidy. —The subsidy received from Government was apportioned to the several ridings as follows : — Pukekura riding, £439 ; Rangiaobia, £445 (£238 for Rangiaohia, £104 for To Awamutu, and £103 for Kihikihi) ; Mangapiko riding, £272 (234 for Mangapiko and £38 for Alexandra) ; Newcastle riding. £219 (£lB3 for Newcastle and £3(> for Ngaruawabia) ; Hamilton riding, £218 ; and Tuhikaraniea riding, £G9. It was resolved to expend the following sums in the ridings lespectively :—Pukekura, £220, Rangiaohia, £210 ; Mangapiko, £100; Newcastle, £100; Hamilton, £100; and Tuhikaramea, £70. Hospitals and Charitable Aid.— lt was resolved on the motion of Cr. Teasdale, seconded by Cr. Fisher, that in reference to this matter the council join in the league with the county councils of Waikato and Raglan and the borough council of Hamilton, in taking measures to resist the operation of the Act in its present form. Riding Expenditure.— The Clerk was instructed to prepare a statement showing the money spent in each riding since the striking of the last county rate. Texdeks— Tenders were received for road works at Tuhikaramea as follow :— W. Read, formation (at per chain) os 9d, ditching ss, laying pipes (per yard) Is Gd ; H. J. Davies 4s 3d, ss, and pipe-laying informal ; McCallum (accepted), 4a, 4s, and 9d. Some other business of a foimal nature was transacted, and the council rose.
