Faeuo \, Wednend.iy. Kakwgahvke.—Nearly all the claims aie now at woik. The furnace is awaiting iron for the fiuv. A lode of iron was found a day or two ago, but it is not good enough for the purpose. Crown.—Mr McGuire repoiti: In this claim work i«> going on in the stopss above the mam level on No. 7 reef on a very good grade of stuff. Tho average size of the lode is 4ft. (mi. Welcome is awaiting the surveyor's report on the position of the reef. Woodstock.—Mr Littlejohn reports: The train to connect the Maria reef with the bottom line ib nearly complete. The tunnel i-, now in a distance of 08 feet; about 22 feet more will reach the reef, which will be about Saturday. The drive for the Woodstock l eef is in 55 feet, and is about oft. from the reef. Accuse.—Mr Hall leport* : The hands are binking a winze on a run of gold. Good prospects. Commence to-day t>> bag quartz for the battery, and will then bag a parcel for the Thames smelter. Dudbo. —The level U being continued on the main reef with a splendid show of gold and a parcel is being made up for the Thames furnace. Talisman.—Trenching is being continued on the Kunilworth boundary to intersect the Dilworth reefs. Tho level is going up the Woodstock spur on the course of the leader. AxriQUARY. —The main level is in good country going in the direction to cut the Prospector's reef. There are three or four other lodes in this claim, but owing to the depth of floating matter on the surface can \ only be got at by a level, and will be operated on from the present drive. Ivanhoe. —This claim is being well worked. Stoping and driving i-> going on. Scorr. —The reef prospects are A 1, and Mr Stone has commenced crushing of one eight hoiNe shaft per dietn. The Sik Walter Scoir is not yet working. Mr Kiely, of Waitekauri, fills Mr R. Workman's place ou fhe King Country prospectors' list. Another small fire has occurred at Puriri, the cottage of Mr Cribb being burned down.
A Philadelphia, druggist has fortyfour prescriptions, received in six months, in which everyone contains such errors as to seriously menace life in case they had been filled as the doctors wrote them. Exolisii manufacturers sold during 1884 over 5,000.000 hats in the Paris market, and unless &teps are taken to cross their path, these figures will be doubled iv 1885. Dog-owners in Kilnkihi referred to advertise* merit in another column. Air J. R. Kanderson, Auckland, makes an ira. portant announcement in another column. Messrs W. J. Hurtsrand Co. will sell at the residence of Sergt. Stunner, Alexandra, on Saturday, tbe 16lfc inst , the whole ot his household furniture, dairy co.vs, &c; also, furniture on account of Sergt. Hallctt. On Thursday, the 21st, they will sell at the Cambridge j.irds, tat cows, fat cattle, store rows, dairy cows, sheep, &c. On Saturday, the 23rd, they will hold their usual horse sale at Cambridge, when they will offer over 50 horses of all descriptions, &c, &c. j
