The Township Wiped Out. [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
Paeuoa, Monday. AIBKMENDOUSA 1BKMENDOUS fire occurred at the Owharoa township last night at 12 o'clock. Walsh's Hotel was the first to catch, and the tire spread speedily all over the township, destroying the hotel, stores, stable:), and in fact the entire " place. The only thing saved was the battery, the roof of which however, was destroyed. It is scarcely known as yet how the fire commenced, except that it originated in Wal-shes kitchen. The insurances are not known, but it is believed that they are not co-exteusive with the damage done. Owharoa is a township on the road between Thames and Tauranga about eifjht miles from Paeroa, and is & miuing district. Some of tho property destroyed belongs to Mr K. K. Davis, the »wt>ll-known mining speculator.
