NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above board was held at the school-house, Whatawhata, on Saturday, the 9th inst. Present: Meisrs Corboy (chairman), Shephard, and Iwersen. An* application was received from the Ttihikaramea ratepayers to have a piece of road formed to give access to the Hamilton road, and stating they were willing to contribute a portion of the cost.— The chairman was asked to inspect the road, add report ah to probable cost of same at next meeting. A petition, signed by Edward Johns and others, asking the board to clear and form the road connecting the Fnkete and Ngaruawahia - Whatawhatn roads.— The board instructed the clerk to acknowledge receipt of petition signed E. Johns and others, and to state that the board cannot at present expend any more money than what has been already spent in that part of tho district, but that they will, however, as soon as they receive the balance of the purchase money due to the board for lands sold for rates in their district, have that amount expended in improving the road referred to, and other works in the district.
