Hawera, Friday. A telegram received here states that there is danger of an outbreak of fire at Elthom, and that Midhurst also was in danger. No casualties are as yet reported at either places. Advices from Stratford report that the fire Las not revived, but all is blackness and desolation for uiileb. All the fences have gone. The settlers' cattle got away into the back country, their recovery being almost hopeless. Most of the homeless people who were brought to Hawera were removed to New Plymouth, but some badly injured remain behind under medical treatment. A subscription list has been started. , „
