Only a limited number of c lives and yoai lin^s wero offered, and those <iold at full values. Two and three-year-old steers were plentiful, and all sold, but prices a shade lower ; fat cattle yarded in excess of requirements, and consequently many rotnainei unsold. 82 steers from To Akau .ivoraged £4 16s, 50 steers from Miiungakawa averaged £3 10s, 70 •payed cows fiom To Akan and other places, £2 10a, and smaller lota at similar prices. Throe-year-old steers sold at from £4 to £1 10? each ; two-year-old steers, £3 2s Gi to £3 10s each ; light weight oteer beef brought £6 7s (id to £6 10s. A large number of fat cows were Bold at from £4 5s to £3 7s Cd.
auckland live stock markets. Messrs. Huniikr and Nolans Weekly Rkpout.— The holidays have materially interfered with the sales. The horse sale waa held on Wednesday, the 31-.t Dacember. The Durham Yard* were crammed with hordes, and there waa a good attendance of buyers, but vendors had t» submit to low rates, notwithstanding there was a large proportion of ship horses, and most of them of a uaef ul btarap. We quote : Hacks from £5 to £13 10s j ii^ht-harncis horaes, from £7 to £15 ; spring cart horses, £11 to $18. Wool, hides and skins : Hides and skins in moderate supply, and rather lower in value. The wool is held over for the «erie 3 kalo on the 7th inst. Cattle : The number brought forward has been below the average, but there has been no advance in price*. There was a very short muster at Newmarket on Tuesday. Beef was at the previous week's values. Sheep were in very short supply, but there was no improvement in value except for prime young wethers, for which lls 3d was reached. Ewes were neglected, lambs were fairly plentiful, and sold at the previous week's values. Pigs : A moderate number were yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday, finding purchasers at from ljd to 3d per lb, live weight.
