DEFEAT OF THE SOUDAN REBELS Cairo, December 30.
General Htephenson telegraphs from Wady Haifa, stating that he lias attacked and defeated the rebel Arabs who have been so troublesome of late in the vicinity of the second cataract. His forces inflicted .severe loss upon the enemy, and occupied their position at (.ioemis. The c.i\ airy are now in pursuit of the fugitives. Two guns and twenty banners were also captured from the natives. The British loss is set down at twentytwo.
