WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL
The council met for ordinary bmino^s at the chamber*, Ohaupo, on Tuesday, Do cemher 22nd. Present: Crs. (Hermann (cli.mm.m), Teasdale, Kidler, Fisher and Corboy. E.m.ivekh's Rki-out.— The Engineer made his monthly report <>n the state of the county roads.— Cr. Ridlor mo\ed, "That the engineer prepare and submit to the ne\t meeting of the council an estimate of the cost <>f putting all county roads ni proper repair, preparatory to having them maintamed in sections by contract. —Motion curled.-— The Engineer leported ceit.un bridge repairs he had done n« matters of urgency.— The Council confirmed the action of the enßiuppr. It was repoited that Mr Hunter was now willing to have the road in front of Ins gate lowered some two feet.— lt was agieed to complete this work as onghmlly intended, the council expressing the opinion that no privato persons should be allowed to interfere with contiactoiH or works in course of being carried out. Tl'HlK\r\me.\M\inßoaij.— lt was resolved to expend the balance of ±,'3t in fmtlier foimatioii, gravel not being availUh.wki. Supply.— The Ranpiaohia Road Board wrote, requesting to son the authority for tikim7Kr.ucl from their pit.— The Clerk was directed to reply that the late board gave a verb.il permission to take gravel. Tho council however were willing to return an equ.il quantity of gravel when required. It wan agreed to obtain permission of tho Pukeknra Koad Board to take gravel, tho council to fence in the pits used. Mil Joi.r/Ts Clum.— lt was resolved to disown any claim, Mr Jolly himself having been an active promotei in opening tho road. . •Sl'bmdy.— The Clerk was directed to apply for subsidy under "The Local Powers Act." , . , A number of payments wore authorised, and tho meeting closed.
