Ayrshires.
Wk understand, saya an exchange, that the entire herd of Ayrshire cattle belonging to the Duke of Bacclench will bo sold by puhlio auefion at I>rumlanrig in October ne*. The Ibruralanrig Ayrshires have been bred with great skill and enterprise for a number of years. As Ayrshires are reckoned to be valuable milkers, the approaching sale will be a favorable opportunity for admirers of Ayrshircß fcupply ing themselves ".ith animals of choioe strains of blood and heavy niilnin^' properties. What a pity it i 3 that our port"? are still closed against cattle importations, for this herd referred to by our contemporary ia the most celebrated in Great Britain, and if it were possible, our Victorian breeders would certainly add a few from this valuable herd to (he already creditable list of Ayrshires in the colony.
