HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was held at the chambers last evening. Present : — His Woiship tho Mayor, Crs. Philip, Frear, Bach, Tippen, Dey, Edgecnmbo and Knox. Correspondence inwards and outwaids was approved of by the council. In referonce to a letter fiom the Registrar-Goneral, in reply to n letter from tho council, referring to complaints 1 as to the conduct of the business in connection with the Registrar's Oihce in Hamilton, it was decided to reiteiate the previous statement, and to add that as tho present holder of the position, is n medical gentleman, the nature of his profession must of necessity take him much away from his otKce, and consequently personal attendance to the duties was impossible. An application for a slaughter-house license was left in the hands of the mayor to grant when the powers of the council were ascertained. No other business of public importance transpired, and the council rose at 10 o'clock.
