Milk Production Overdone.
The ardour with which farmers in America compete to beat the highest record at the milk-pail is likely to cool somewhat suddenly. An exchange pointa out that every few days the death id chronicled of some noted butter or milk-producing cow. The cause of death is attributed to milk fever, but the truth is they are pampered and gorged and pat at hi^h pressure until the next that in heard in — the cow is dead. What are wanted are cows that will give, not the largest production of milk and butler regardless of cost, but the largest production in compariHon to tho food con•umod, or a yield that shall show the largest profit in itt production.
