A letter appuarn in The limes from Mr. Albert Pell, M P., who remarks on the mcd which exists for providing weighing platforms at public markets capable of oarrying 10 beasts at a time. " Nothing," he sayn, " can be more unsatisfactory to tho feeder in a small way of business than the present way of marketing bit stock. His limited experience unfits him for estimating the weight as closely as the butcher or salesman, and places him, therefore, at a disadvantage. Having, however, tha opportunity of knowing the prices per pouna of dead meat, he oan, with the weighbridge, tell, at Mr. Wrightson shows, to a nicety the value of his animals if ripe for killing. In the national and other stockyards of tho United States sales are concluded in a few minutei, the on)y bargaining being in the value per pound. This settled, the animals are driven into the weighing-shed, are weighed (up to lota of 30 or 40 in a batch), and the value computed at once. To secure these advantages, market authorities might be requued to provide the proper apparatus and charge for us use."

The Live Stock Journal states that 240 birds, principally of tho light Brahma, black Minorca, white and buff Cochin breedH, were ehippod by Mr. Willcon of the Huntingdonshire Poultry I'arm, Kinkbolton, to ft nephew of the Lord Chancellor's in Australia. They were packed in 2 1 cakes.
