The customary sales of hide*, skma and tallow was not held on account of the holidays. The W.uufcu cattle sale on Saturday, 7th instant was the largest held there at .any time. The cattle, boing principally steers of pood quality, were eagerly competed for. Many of tho sheep, being aged ewes, sold at low I'ucen, but the young sheep were in demand at full value*. For the horse stock the deni uid was not ho good, and all the young ones remained uiusold. At Kemuera, on Tiiuisday, dairy cattle at their pioht weie numerous. Best animals brought fiom £o" to £'J. Store cattle in full number, and leq\nred. The late advance in prices w.is fully sustained, particulaily for grown Hteers and fresh conditional cow. The Ayrshire cows and heifei-> were all fiom Messrs Fleming and Hedley'* stock, and brought from £l» to £i) each. Foi tho Devon cattle there was no competition above butchpr's values. Fat cattle weie in Moderate number and sold fieely, the pn/o cattle being extra fat and heavy weight*, from 21s to 22a thelOOlbs : medium weights of good quality from 23s to 23a the 1001b--. Fat calves wore in better enquiry than last week. Fat sheep :In limited number, but dull of sale. Fat lamba : Numerous and m good enquiry; those of good quality brought from 10s to 13s each. Pigs: In full numbers, .and of good quality, but were lower in pi ice. Store sheep at late values. MK->biw. Huntkuand Nolans Wekkj.v Rei'okt. —Horses: There have been but few strange horses brought forward, con sequently thara has been little excitement, and about an average nuuib°r changed hands at the previous week's values. More than the usual number were submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday, and with few exceptions found purchasers, bidding being more spirited than for the last few weeks ; but there was no alteration in value worthy of note. Wool, hides, and Rkins have been coming forward, but owing to the holiday* no sale was held, and there lemains an unsatisfied enquiry for good heavy hides. Cattle: There has been a good deal doing, and a good many of all descriptions have changed hands at about the previous week's values for dairy and store stock, and a slight advance for beef. Thero was rather a short supply at Newmaiket on Tuesday, but an unusually large muster at Pukekohe on Wednesday. Prices for dairy cows and stores were fully as high on on the previous week, and there was a noticeable advance in tho value of fat beaato, particularly those in prime condition. The weighing machine was bi ought into requisition to ascertain the live weight ol tho prize .stock exhibited at tho Agi lcul tural Show. The champion bullock exhibited by Mr K. Reynolds, weighing IMVilbs, hold for £18 ss. Herefoid <»\, bred by Mr Reynold*, and weighing KiJolbs, v/M sold for £14. Second pn/.o ox, bred by the Waikato Land Association, weighing 212")1b5, was sold for UV> 10i. Prize ox, bred on the Gorton Estate 1, weighing ISIOUh., was sold for £14. Prize ox, bred on the Gorton Estate and weighing UKKilbit., wan mild for £13. First ])ii/e ox, bred on the Gorton Estate, weighing 18.">51b5., wag wild for £13 10*. O\ bml by Mr K. Hent, weighing 21331bs. t wa- ->old foi £13 1(K Ox bied by MrT. Gw.lf. ln.w, and neighing Ji)")01lw., was Hold for £'.) 15s. o.x bred by Air T. Goodfellow, and weighing lyy'ilh-"., was sold for £10 10s. Second prize ox, bied by Mr E. Allen, and weighing 2J101b.5., wa.s sold for £1(> 10s, and a fat ox, bi ed by the name owner and weighing 21301b5., was sold for 213 15s. Sheep. There was a very good muster of sheep in the butchers' pens at Newmarket, and last week's v.ihu-ii wero fully maintained, notwithstanding prices ranged from 8x to £2 20s. Wethers, exhibited by the Waikato Land Association, which obtained first pri/.e at the Agricultural Show, weighing 7001 hm. live weight, realised £2 10h each. A pen of three wethers belonging to the same company, which was awarded second pii/.e, weighed 5751b*. and sold at £1 9s each. Five wethers, awarded first prize for a pen of five, And weighing lOOOlbs., the propcity of the same company, sold at £1 12s. A pen of five wethers, exhibited by Mes&rs G. G. Smith, of Gin borne, and weighing 1044 lbs, sold at £1 5s each, and a pen of three, from the same gentlemen, weighing ."iSSlb^, realised the same money, namely, UK '"s. The other show sheep, together with the rest of the market, sold at from 24, d to 2M per lb, live weight. Pigs wero in adequate supply, and fluctuated in price, according to quality, ranging from 2d to 3jCi per lb.
