THE RAGLAN MAIL SERVICE.

Is cnniequenct of % letter received by Mr Sutton from the Postal Department, asking the contractor if he was prepared to run the mails «<> »* to meet the up train to Auckland, a public meeting waa held on Monday, October 10th, in the council P" chamberx. Mr (ill mow was called to the chair. The meeting was unanimously of opinion, seeing that the present arrangement was so well carried out, and satisfactory, that no improvement would take place by c»rrying out the suggestion-* made in the letter received from Mr Biw on the subject. It was proposed by Mr Win. Cr.vcken, seconded by Mr Frii^cl, and carried, "That the Postal Department allow the mail to be carried an at present, leaung Raglan at 8 a.m., and arming at Hamilton at 4.15 p.m." It waa thought by the meeting that an improvement would be made by altering the day of the mail leaving Raglan. Mr Philp proposed, Mr Moon seconded, and it was carried, " That Mr Bibs be ny queated to allow the mail to lea\e Raglan on Friday instead of Wednesday, thus causing the mails to leave Raglan on Monday and Friday, and returning on Tuesday and Saturday in #ach week, as they^ were considered the mo«t suitable days." Mr Prgler proposed, and Mr Wylie seconded, " That a copy of these resolution* be at once forwarded by the chairman to tho Chief P»*tmast#>r at Auckland, requesting him to favourably consider tho wrae." A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the most unanimous meeting I have attended in tho district.— (Own Correspondent.)
