The present subsidy expires in February ne\t. The Hon. W. Gisborne is to contribute the article on New Zealand in tho new edition of the "Encyclopedia Britannica." Sir F. Dillon Bell was requested to write the article, but had to decline owing to pressure of work connected with hi« position an Agent-General. It is alleged by the Exhibition authoritiefc that a number of members of the Legislature who were accorded free passes to the Exhibition while here, not content with passing m all their friendu on these ticket", legard them as transferable property, and have handed them over to fiiends upon leaving Wellington.
