Special attention is directed to the Company's brand in this line, which, with the facilities affoidcd by the cold-air pioeess, can be cured in mild pickle, and tht necessity of cutting up in small pieces obviated. The Company would specially call attention to the fact that the COMPRESSED CANNED BEEF AND MUTTON, PACKED IX THE SQUARE CAN (The ri"ht to which is patented), is the first sample from any part of the world that lias been able to compete successfully in tho London Market with the best Chicago brands. Hitherto the Colonial meats packed in the io"nd cans, although called com* pressed meats, weie only saleable in the English markets where a low price vra« th« first consideration, but meats of the New Zealand Packing Company, submitted in competition for Admiralty supplies at Deptford Dockyard, were awarded the highest commendation, and placed on the register of accepted brands. The following extract from the letter of the Company's Agents in London, tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited), is referred to, who write as follows :—: — "We have the pleasuie to hand yon herewith an extrnct from a lettor received from the W.ir Office, Army Depaitment : — " Samples of the Peach Brand of the New Zealand Packing C<>.. submitted by you, lmebeen tested and proved, and the Brand will be added to the Selected Libt of the Department." This now entitling you to the privilege ol competing, we theiefme tendered on your behalf at 00d 3d per 1121b; and to-day w«r« gratified to hear that the offer had been accepted, notwithstanding that it wasDd per cwt. higher than the leading Ameiican brands, bhowiug that the quality was fully appreciated."' Consequent upon the temporary stoppage of production during the transfer of the Company's Meat-preserving Woiks from Auckland to Waitara, and owing to the fact that the teseive which had been relied upon to meet current demaadt was taken by the New South Wales Government for the Soudan expedition, the Company ha« been unable to comply with numerous demands from customers, but is now prepaied to execute with promptitude all orders with which it may be favoured. WHOLESALE BUTTER DEPOT. The Company is about to open a large Wholesale Butter Depot at their Freezing Woiks, Railway Whaif. Cooling Chambers and the necessary plant are now being prepaied. It is anticipated that with the appliances, cold-air chambers, and facilities for dealing w ith the ever increasing surplus, the Company will bo able to offer a regular and satisfactory market for Dairy Pioduce The Company's Managers of this branch are cash purchasers of Prime Butter and Fre«h Eggs Communications may at once be addressed to them. The utmost care will be taken in the selection of Butter for table use. This will be made up fresh eveiy morning. As early as possible, wholesale orders of Butter will bo dehveied in refi iterating carts, so that retailors will be allr to obtain » day'i supply each morning, and householders, by insisting upon being supplied with th« Company's Brands of Butter, will obtain a table delicacy throughout the year. The depaitment will be under the management of Mcssis Glanville and Ellyetfc, whose Butter Business is being taken over by the Company. CHEMICAL WORKS. The Directois being very desirous of satisfying the public as to the gennineness of their Manures, have requested Prof. Brown, of the Auckland Univemtv, to act as their Analyst, and he has agreed to certify to the Analysis of Superphosphates. The Company will defray the cost of any Analysis of Manures purchased direct from them and duly sampled, the result of which may be proved to fall below theguarautecd standard, and also allow 4s 6d per ton per unit for the deficiency.
