TE AROHA. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT .] Te Aroha , Wednesday.
\, Wednesday. The rcpfiil.ii lortnightly sitting on tlie K.M. Court \\a* held yesterday, Mi S'oithcmft presiding, but the business was unimpoiUnt. Tho civil cases hoard were as follows :— Win. \\ ikon v. Win. Holden (judgment sumuiitiis) 12 .la 4d. Defendant oidoiod t<> pay £'2 on or before tho 2Gth inst. and tho balance with cobts 15«, on or befoio November i:ttb. Failing to do so, to be ltnpnsoned for two weeks. A. H. White house v. 0. A. Comes, claim for good-> K2 lSs(;d. Judgment for plaintiff with costs His. (!.(;,i|iu.h v ]•'. ljonth, b.iliiuco of ,ie count for labour, Ac, .C 2 10s o'd. Judg niunt foi plaintiff, with costs £2 1h Gd. In tho Warden's comt, the busings was exceedingly light, tho heaimg of the principal ones being postponed till No\embei 13th, before which dato it is expected. Mr Waidcn Kcnrick will hate ictuined from the South. These cases comprise two or three relating to tho ownership of certain claims on the new reef at the herd of tho Tui creek, and tho decision in each i«i looked forwaid to with somo interest. At the seat of that discovery no work has yet been done to developo the lodo. Thi» is> chiefly owing to the difficulties to be encountered on the road to tho locality, it being next to impassable under existing circumstances to get supplies to the place. Tho reef lies a little to the north of the Piako County boundaiy and U Hituatod within the newly constituted county of Ohinemuri. The election of councillor for the several ridings of that county takes place on Saturday next, and at tho hi >t meeting thereafter the necessity for fouu ing a track to tho claims will be submitted to tho members. Ah the discoveiy is likely to add largely to tho county revt nue, it is to bo hoped tho council will see its way to proceed at onco with tho forming of the road. Until that is done, very little tan bo accomplished in the way of opening up tho newly found reef. Beforo tho dispersal of the successful meeting held here l»»t Friday evening in tho interests of tho North New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, the advisability of urging upon Government the need for commencing tho railway station buildings without furthor delay was disctifwed. It was resolved that tho matter bo left in the hands of the Aioha Improve meDts Committee, and that body has had prepared ,i petition to the Minister for Public Works praying that the erection of the buildings on the site acquired sometime since from Mr Oeorgo Lipsey mny bo at once commenced. The petition makos snecml reference to this site, as it is feared that lor economical reasons, tho reserve on the west side of tho river may be selected jind some makeshift station be established there. This might delay the constiuctmn of the mam station on tho towiihhip hide for an indefinite uejiod, and against this sacrifico of the public convenience a (strong protest is ma.de. Xow that the land has been secured for the eastern htalvm, and contracts aro in hand for completing the line thereto, it will certainly WW9 much dissatisfaction
and 1 egret if, for an economy which may be lcgaided as exceedingly doubtful, the tho more dist.mt Mte should be selected. (»ood piogicss is buniK mado with the liipi •>\emeut-> in the domain giounds. Thi> space laid off foi lawn tennis and other pastime-, is now in, p.nt completed and the meinbeis of the lecently-formed chili ii id their fii-st inaction on Saturday l.i^t. Visitois to the springs who take an lnUie-it in the giiine will now be afforded ■tin'tliei moans of wlnliiif,' away a tedious hoin should time hanj^ heavily on their hand I.1 '.
