Thk death is announced, at the age of 75, of Cardinal McCloskey, Ardtbishop of New York.
The operations which have been carried on for somo tinio past by the Marine Department, with the view ot cleaving the East River channel, wore successfully finished to-day, when no less than nine acre^ of the reef in what is known .is Hell Gate were successfully removed by means of dynamite.
