SOIREE AND CONCERT AT TAOTAOROA.

On Tuesday night the building was rather inconveniently crowded, the settlers in the neighbourhood mustering in force, bolides which a large number of visitors from Cambridge weie present. A most bountiful tea- was piouded by Mrs Semmons, Mrs Wattani and other ladies, and wis done ample justice to. After the tables h.ul been cleared, Mr Joseph Harrison, of Cambridge, was voted to the chair, and the following excellent programmo was gone through, in which the visitois üblv assisted :— Song, "Wait Till the Clouds Roll by," Mrs R. Ketr; character sketch, Mr E. Alexander; song, "Little Empty Cradle,' Mr I<\ Holmes ; song, "Speak to Me, Deirest," Miss Jennie Campbell ; comic sketch, Mr E. Alexander ; mug, Mis (}. Wattatn ;ving, " Kathleen Mavourneen,' Mr Sennnens, junr ; chai.icter wketch, Mr E. Alexander ; Montr and dance, " Slie'w only Seventeen, " Mr F. Holmos ; recitation, "Shaunus OBrien," Mr E. Alexander. At the conclusion of the concert the room was cleared for dancuirf, which wan kept up with evident enjoyment until d.iybrcik, the music being provided by Mr James Stuart. It may be as well to mention that owing to the inexperience of the committee in getting up these affuu-s no arrangements were made for taking tickets 01 money at thedoon, consequently a few visitors went in without paying. Theie gentlemen are doubtless anxious to put this matter right, and it can be^t be done by remitting the a'nount of enhance, two shillings, to tho chairman of the school committee, Mr Summons.
