fin rKLEO.RU'H.— PRhSS ASSOCIATION!. WELLINGTON, Thursday. At the Temperance Congress to-day the following new delegates were present: — liev. J R Puxford (Kaiapoi), Mr Ross ([nveicart'ilU, Mi Eyre (Wellington), Rev. J. A Torrance (South Dunedin), Rev. J. Ryley (Port Chalmers), Mr Bennett (Wellington), Mrs Howe (Kaikotira), Mis Bennett (Wellington), Mr Pickaid (Nelson), Mr H Fiyeton (Wellington.) It was resolved: — 1. That the proposed alliance he called the New Zealand Alliance for the promotion of Temperance and the suppression of the liquor traffic. 2 That the said Alliance consist of all persons favourable to the above object, who shall give in their names and pay an annual subscription of ( not less than os, and all affiliated societies ; that any society may affiliate by paying the sum of 20s per annum, and an additional 20s foi each extia delegate sent to the annual meeting. 3. Tint an annual meeting of delegates be held, each affiliated society being entitled to select one delegate for each guinea contributed to the funds of the Alliance, provided that in no case shall theie be more than one delegate for each 'Jo members or fractional part tlu'ieof, and that the meeting elect a president and governing hoard. 4. That the foregoing lesolutions be forwarded to e\ery known temperance organisation in New Zealand, and that they be requested to elect delegates to inoet at Wellington or. or about "25th January next to formally inauguiatc the said Alliance. A pieliminaiy executive was appointed to make the necessary arrangements for that meeting, The chairman" (Mr Harding) announced his intention of paying the whole expenses of the present Congress.
