Mr Gladstone, in view of the approaching general ele cion, lias issued a political manifesto to the constituency of Mulloth 1 in. He utgc*> the complete withdrawal ci the British troops from Kgypt at the earliest possible moment, and expresses himself sis distinctly opposed to the annexation, a protectorate, or the indefinite occupation of tli.it country. Speaking of home affairs Mr (Gladstone ad\oi/'*vs reform of the Mouse of Lord and the land law s. The necessity for a readjustment of the incidence of taxation is pointed out, as well as for the extension of the principle of locil self-government. He expresses himself ic.uly to grant Ireland any system of self-go vernmentcompatible with the miintenanoe of the supremacy of the Crow n, the integrity of the Empiie, and the authority of Parliament. In conclusion, Mr (Jladstone announce-* that he speaks as the working chief of the Liberal paity.
