Sin, — I beg lcavo to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 2nd September, in>t., respecting tho new hcholaiohip lugul.itions, and to acquaint you that tin* subject has attracted notice in this part of the Kaipara, and that stops are being taken to nuomblfl the chairmen of the several school committees in the dUtiict^ aiound at LVharoa in order to tako collective action therein. It i* thought that one effectixe method may bo to require a pledge from any e.mdidate for a «eat at tho Board of Hducition that he will usee\eiy exoition to have the regulations modified so as to give an equal chance 1,0 country as to town children in competition for scholarships f i om which these new regulation* practically bar the former. —I am, Sir, your obedient servant. W. H. SxKMivfi, Chan man. Joiiv Kxo\, Esq., Secretarj', Hamilton West School Coinmittce.
