Septeinbei ">th, there was a large number of horses, waggons, harness, Ac, brought forward, a large attendance of buyers, good competition exiited nnd n good s.ilo resulted. Waggons sold from t'JO to £22; waggon horses, £7 10s to £20; harness £2 2s per set ; hacks, from £ I to £12 ; potatoes, 3s to 4.s per cwt. At the Ohaupo Yards on Tuesday, September Bth, the yards were completely crammed with ottle, between 500 .\nd f!00 yarded, besides largo number of aheep. Many of the cattle were in low condition, but being princi pally steers sold fairly well, a good number not sold at auction were placed afterwauls, but few remained unsold ; a largo number of dairy cows met fair demand, and with one or two exceptions all sold. Grown steers in fresh condition were rather dull of sale m consequence of scarcity of grass and turnips being nearly hnwhed. Beef was in good demand and all sold at satisfactory prices, nearly all sheep yarded sold. We'quote dairy cows, £4 to £7 ; back ward springers, £3 10;. to £5 12s fid ; steer calve*, £1 13s to £1 18 ; mked sexes in low condition, Its to £1 8s; 1J to 2^-yeAr-old steers, £2 to £3 17s ; store cows, £2 to £2 1"m ; 3 and 4-year-old steers, £4 10s to £0 7s (id ; fat cows and heifers, £4 to £.1 7s (id ; cues and lamb->, 12s to 12s 9d. Fraser'a, on Thursday, September 10th, there was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of Waikato, also Auckland ; good competition existed for all lots offered, and a \ciy natisfactory sale resulted. We quote cows in calf, £3 to £4 12s 5d ; yearling heifers, £1 4s ; 3-year-old, £1 10s to £2 10s ; 2i-year-old Hteern, $4 4s ; 3 and 4-year-old, £") 10s ; yearling draught colts, £7 3s to £S ss; 2 and 3-year-old, £8 to t'l2 ss ; draught mares in foal £14 to £15 10a; medium draught active mare-*, £18 each; pony, £4 15s. Lot sundries sold well. At Ngaruawahia on Friday, September 11th (day following Mr Eraser's sale), there was a large number of cattle, the yards being all filled. A good attendance of buyers, many remaining from previous day. Nearly every beast sold at fully Ohaupo prices. We quote : Steer calves (well-bred), £1 15s to £2 ; yearlings, £2 to £2 5s ; li and 2-yr old steers, £3 2s lid to £3 4s ; 3 and 4-yr old steers, £4 10s to £"> ; dairy cows, £3 to £5 ; store cows, £1 10s to £2 10s. At Cambridge yaid.s on Thursday, September 17th, there was a full market of fat cattle. Many more yarded than required. About one half sold to the trade. A few dairy cows met good competition and sold well. Only one lot m, which realised good price. We quote : Davy cows, £1 to £5 ; store cows, £2 10s ; store heifers, £1 8s ; fat cows and heifers, £1 15s to £5; store steers, £4 10j; fat hoggetts, 12s !)d. We have also placed privately 400 fat merino wethers, 10s ; seven*! lots cross-bred wethers, 12s to 14s lid ; 20 2-yr-old steers, £3 7s Gd ; 40 fat cows, £5 14s ; buggy, £20. J. S. Bucklvnu Rkpoiits :— At Cainbiidge Cattle Sale on Thursday, 10th inst., a number of dairy cows were hold at prices varying from £4 to £i> ; heifer calves in low condition 15s; steer calves 25s to 3ns ; young store cows 40s each. Some good fat cattle were yarded, but none sold. At the clear ancc sale of William Bond's live and dead stock, on Friday, 11th inst, all lots offered were sold and realised satisfactory prices. The draught mares were aged and in low condition; they brought £13 each; heifers in calf £5 ; age* cows £3 to £4 ; two-year-old heifer*, 35s ; dray, £11. Furniture and implement-* all sold at fair values. At the Cambridge Bazaar on Saturday last, a large amount of business was done, especially in horse, and all entered with the exception of two were sold under the hammer at an advance on late quotations. Medium draughts sold freely from £15 to £23 ; stock horses, £7 to £10 ; small hacks and pack horses, £4 to £7 ; each. Waggon, £27 ; buggy and harneM, £31 ; plough harness, 30s the set ; saddles and bridles (second band) 40s to 50s. Fowls, 2s 6d to 3s the pair. The draught colt advertised was sold for £4"). Dairy cattle sold well, and also grown steers in foiward condition, but young cattle were dull of sale, and several pens of this class remain unsold. The beef pens wore all full of good quality cattle, and all sold at advanced prices. Prices obtained were, for dairy cows at or near profit, 64 to £7 ; yearling steers, 37s to 455 ; eighteen months to two-ye*r-old steers, £2 15s to £3 ss ; large framed bullocks in low condition, £4 to £5 ss ; well bred three-year-old steers off turnips, £5 2s (id to £5 3s (id ; and a large number of this class sold freely at those prices. 30 fat heifers sold at an average of £4 10s each ; fat cows, £1 10h to £7 10s each. 400 good wethers were sold at 13s (kl, and aged metino ewes bi ought 5s each.

Store cattle are coming forward plentifully, and prices hive been v.uiablu. At Pokeno, a small mustci of stook, principally young steer-*, sold freely. At Dniry, on Wednesday, therr was a largo muster of good steers ; they met a dull salo for three and four-year old steers ; prices were lower, about 10s each, but calves and yearlings wore in demand at full values ; cows were also something better worth. Musks Hi'KrKR and Nol\n's Wi-kkm ItFTour — Horses : There has not been anything stirring to chronicle. An avenge number have been brought forward, and found purchasers at the previous week's values. The number submitted by auction, on Friday, at the Durham Yards, was about as large as usual. Competition was steady, and most of the lots were cleued. We quote hacks at from £5 to £14 10s ; light harness horses £13 t<> £22; medium draught £27 10s. Wool, hides nnd >-kins Moderate supply and steady demand. We f|iioto hides at from 2J to 31 peril).; shins, 2s lOd to 3s Gd. Cattle : There have been an adequate number brought forward, w hicli met corresponding demand, with little or no alteration in value. The Nowmarket yards on on Tuesday were fan ly well filled. Dairy cows wrre in slack do mand, and were generally of inferiordescrip tions. £'(> was tha top price reached. Stores were scarce. There was a decline in the \alue of store steers of 2s or 3s per head; other descriptions unaltered. Fat beasts \v ere sufficient for requirements, but thero was an upward tendency in value for well fatted steers on the average, although veiy fow reached 24s per 1001 bs. Sheep : There was a good muster at Newmarket, but through a draught of merinos being withdrawn, butchers' pens were scarcely sufh ciently stocked, and there wa« an advance in value of fully Is per head. Pigs : A good many yarded, and for those of a good description competition was keen, at from 2\d to 3^d per lb. live weight. Messrs G. W. Binnbt and Co. rpport that at their sale on Tuesday of wool, hides, skins and tallow : The market for hides was well supplied, and prices were a shade firmer. First class stout, 3jjd to4J; medium, 2j(d to 3jjd ; inferior, 2d to 2Jd per lb; butchers' crossbred skins, 2s 3d to 3s 8d ; merinos, Is to 2s Id ; station, Is 2d to ]s Ud each ; tallow, £18 to £19 10s ; inferior, £11 r,B to £12 153 per ton.
