IL PENSEROSO.
Bright shines the sun through cloud bars, and the deep rich green of the avenue With blue hills afar, form together an exquisite pioture Reminding the gazer of similar scenes in the fatherland, Between him and which are not only the oceans of distance, But all the long city-pent years sinoe Arcadian youtb intervening! Boyhood— ah! happiest epooh to many it seems retrospectively, Yet has it its sorrows as real as those of maturer age, And up the year*, adoloscent, we still are " to be blest but are not." For fast though we follow, the vision ideal flies faster ; And though we may study, admiring, the heavens above us, They only in dreams are attained till tho soul, disencumbered. Shoots beyond songsters and stars to seraphic Sooiety !
