Whyn your company was staited muiv farmers woic induced to tike up hhaics on the understanding that tho company's winks would improve their position. But expotience proves quite the reserve, and we aio upa-nimously of opinion that a slaughteiynrd and tinning works urn -t be erected in Home central position m Waikato, ea^ily accjdsib'.o from all parts of thesurio.mdmg district". Your company being nhea/K formed can more cheaply and efficiently carry out the industry than a separate com pany. Wo therefore hope that you may be able to see your way to erect branch works in Waikato. We shall be greatly obliged if you will lay our request before the duection, and inform in whether they can enti r tain tho matter or not, and within whit peiiod of timo they can got the necessity u acliuieiy erected.— We have the honour to be, Sir, yom obedient servants, Sv.mi. The dnettors of tins company aie fully nwwie of tho vaiioiis j)oints uiged as to the present depressed st.ite of the agricultnial inteirst, but cannot agiee that this is owing to tho company d operations which they aio persuaded have a tendency in the opposite ducction. The directors are of opinion that the lesourccs of this comimny now available aro capable of being largely utilised in the direction indicated in your letter, and I would suggest that an interview be arranged in town to consider and discuss the maltei. — I am, gentlemen, faithfully yoms, Authlu Bull, Chahmau. S. T. Seddon, Esq., J. J. Bariißh, Esq., H.nuilt >n. Considctable discussion then ensued. It was thought advisable, in view of the icstilt of the canvass, not to entertain the piojectof tinning meat for the piesent A unanimous resolution was arriveul at that slaughter-yards should be elected in Waikato under the auspices of the Cooperative Association. This proposal had met with the general approval of the settleis, and appealed to the committee to be the most feasible, a* the amount of capital required would not be l.uge, and could therefore be raised without any difficulty. It was fuither resolved to invite the directors of the Fiozen Mtat Company to meet the committee in Waikato on the 21st inst, foi the purpose of arranging the teims upon which the committee could obtain the necensaiy cohl storage room for the accommodation of the (had meat foi winded fiom Waikato for disposal in Auckland. It was recognised by the meeting that no scheme which did not involve the export of meat could piovc of lasting benefit to the pioducei.and the committee agreed that as soon as circumstances would pei nit no tune should lie lost in reverting to the meat tinning project.
