[KFUTI'.KS ThLEGRAMS.] THE PALL MALL GAZETTE AND THE LONDON SCANDAL. Londox, September 2. It is announced that it is the intention of the Treasury to institute a prosecution against Mr Stead (editor of th" Pall Mall Gazette) and Mr 13 ram well Booth (son of u GcMim-^' T?ootli), and other person^, for the abduction of a girl named Lily Armstrong, in connection with the recent Jeffries scandal.
THE TELEGRAPH RATES. Berlin', September 2. The International Telegraph Conference has virtually decided to reduce the press rate for telegrams between Europe and Australia to 2s 8d per word, South Australia Government having assented to a reduction on the overland section.
THE CHOLERA IN EUROPE. Rome, September 3. Cholera is reported to have broken out at Parma, and the disease is also stated to have made its appearance in other parts of Italy.
Lo\DO\, September 3. The cholera has made its appearance at Gibraltar.
AUSTRALIAN IIAIIAVAY SCHEMES. Lovdov, September 3. Mr Cheesewright, surveyor, leaves in October to survey the land concession applied for by MiAnthony Hordern, in connection with his projected railway from Albany to York. Tlie capital required for constructing the railway from Guildford to Geraldton, in Western Australia, as proposed by Mr John Waddington, has been subscribed by a syndicate, and the company will be registered shortly. Mr Richard P. Williams, railway statistician, will shortly rjroceed to Western Australia to report on the railways there.
Lonlo.m, September 2. Consols have fallen to par. At to-day's wool sales 12,210 bales were offered to a flat market.
