New Zealand agree-* to a 1 eduction in the tariff, provided Victoria contributes to the .subsidy for New Zealand cable. Victoi ia agrees to do so pro\ ided New Zealand is willing to pay her quota towards subsidising the line between Victoi ia and Tasmania. The Arugus in an article on the subject shows that the prohibitive rates charged on the New Zealand cable hamper traih'e, and quotes figures to show a falling off in the cable revenue during the past two years. The Hon. Mr Uriffltli, Premier of Queensland, has completed a draft of a Federation Accepting Bill, and the measure will be submitted for the approval of the various colonies concerned.
