The exhibits in this bi.inch are \aned and beautiful in design. The ltidustual cantata composed by Mr (.'hailes Thomas was also pel funned for the fn -,t time this afternoon and met with a most heaity icception from the lai go audience. The music on the whole is light and pleasing to the cai and the peifoimancc of it was yeiy ci editable. The composer, who played in the orchesti.i, was nftoi wards waimly congratulated by the Governor on his work. His Excellency sud ho did not pietend to be .1 musical cntic, but he knew what pleased him, and he could only say that tho Fhomas Cantata which had just been so admiralty rendered had gnen him \ery great pleaiiue. Sir Julius Vogel also mado special referonce toj Thomas' effort and said it was \ery gratify ing to him to hear such te-.ti-ir.ony of the cantata. After his E\cellency had concluding his speech decl.umgthe ITome Industiial liianch open, the I'remier called for three cheers for the limemni, which wcio heartily given. His I'Xoi'llency then led Mv Thorn. ts foiwaid to tho dais, and asked for tlnee cheois for him, to which the audience libctally le sponded. The conductor of tho cantata was the Itev. H. Hunter, and Mr Kobt. Paiker picsided at the organ. The arrangements to-d.iy weie in maiked conti act to tlni-e of tlie piesious o])ening day. Theie wa-> no cuislung as on that occasion, the Wellington nfles being diawn up in lino to keep tho n\ unties clear. Nearly all tlio exhibits aie now in position, and the gcneial eveellence of the Exhibition as a colonial production is niiivei sally admitted.
