TUESDAY. The Legislative Council mot .it half-past two. The New Zealand State Foiests Bill was read a second time, and refened to the Waste Lands Committee, on the understanding that the debate on the Bill would be taken when the lepoit of the committee shall be presented. Mr Holmes mmcd, "Tint the Council do not insist on their amendment on the School Committees Election Bill, with which the House of Repiescntatnes disagreed." Carried. Several bills were advanced a t-tago. WEDNESDAY. In the Council, Su F. Whitaker gave notice of a bill to amend the constitution of the council. Mr Peacock moved that a poll of the policy-holders in the New Zealand Government Insurance Association should bu taken as to whether the Ceutial Board should bo abolished. The Cwlonial Secretary pointed out that the pohcy-holdois had already legislatne power to pa«s any resolution they might think fit. After a short discus <ion, the matter diopped. The Christehiuch Market Reserve Bill and the Financial Anangenient Bill weie passed. The Distress Bill and the Ot.tgo Harbour Board Bill were committed. Pi ogress was reported in the latter, and the former was reported with amendments. The debate was intonupted by the adjournment. The Council icumed in the evening. Tlio Otago Dock Bill was read a first time. The Fire and Marine Insurance Bill, and Resident Magistrate Proceedings Validation Bill were lead a third time and passed The Middle Island Half caste Giant Bill and Public Pu'-erves Bill worn load a second tune. The Invorcargiil Loans Consolidating Bill was amended in committee and leported. The Council rose at 8 jj.
