Prices were consequently irregular, but some drafts being withdrawn, puces rallied, and on the whole last week's values weie sustained. Sheep were yarded m much less numbers than usual, and sold fairly well. Calves : Plentiful, and in request. Poikeis : In brisk enquiry, and natisfactory pnees throughout the sale, and well-bred store pigs weie at higher values than for some weeks. Wool, hides and skins : Short supply ; demand good. Cattle : Activity has characterised the market. There was a .slight nn piovement in the demand for dairy stock, and a marked one for both stoics and fat beasts, icsulting in an advance of from 5s to 10s per head. The supply at Newmarket was scarcely no large as usual, but tlirro was a good mnster at Pnki'kohe on Wrdnesday. There was a- slight improvement in the value of good dairy cow*. Htom steeis were m great request, and for fat beasts competition was keen at from 20-i to 23s uer lOOlbs. Ti.eie was no noteworthy alterations on last week's quotations foi other desciiptioas of stock sheep.
