GAZETTE NOTICES. [BY TELEGRAPH.- PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday.
Thk Gazette notifies the appointment of Sir (4. S. Whitmoro as Inspector of the Volunteer Force*. It also declares that, as "Rough on X.its " contains arsenic or preparations of aisenie, it is therefore a "poison," within the means of the Sale of Poisons Act, 1871. The attention of chemists and others is called to the pro\iiions of section 12 of that act, winch prescribes the regulation to be observed in the sale of poisons, as there is reason to believe that these regulations are not always strictly c.uried out as respects poi-oni above refeired to. F. Gordon and H. M.ice, of Kilukihi, are appointed assessors for the pioperty assessment.
