Defendant said the dogs did not belong to him, but th it he offered to pay £2, which plaintiff agreed to accept if paid that evening, but he could not get the money. He admitted having told Mi Xorthcroft one day m Cambridge, and said ho wauld pay the money if time were given. Judgment for full amount, and costs £2 2s. Gibson Bros. v. Jamfr Goodwin.— Debt £44 7s Id. Plaintiff asked for an adjournment till next court day. Granted. CRIMINAL CASi-i. (J. M. Xeil was charged on the information of Edwaid Lowther with having on the 2-") th nist assaulted a bailiff named Clifford, who was sent to take possession of the Orakau Saw Mill. The accused inished the bailiff with a stick and seized mm round the waist. Accused said he considered tho seizure of the mill unlaw ful, and merely acted as he did to assert his right.
