On Monday last I leceived a letter from England that requnrd an answer to be sent by tho earhent and quickest mean**. I went to the poit office and asked when the next mail I««ft NVw Zealand for Kngland, and was told by the postmaster that the Auckland office supplied them with no notice of any mails except those by tho San Francisco route. Now, Sir, considering that the public are the employers and paymasters of the department, I think it is a flhame that itH officers *hould be unable, on account of the notflect of the head office, to supply them with such iufoiuiation an they may require. — I am, &c, HIES.
