He earnestly asked the Count il not to p,is-< the measure. The second reading of the Bill was c.uried by 18 to 17. The naming and Lotteiic* Amendment Bill was committed. The Council adjourned at a, quarter to five. FRIDAY. In tho Council, the Colonial Secretary said it was the intention of the Government to introdnco a bill to amend the Public Trustees Act. A number of hills from the lower chain her were read a fint time The Gaming and L .tteries Bill was i^ad a third time and passed. The Cuniinal Code Bill was leported with amendments, the Industrial School* Bill, and Wet Coast Settlement Bill were read a toird time and passed. The Council rose at 1. 10 p.m.
