Thlhk was no sitting of the R.M Court on Tuesday, which was the day for the usual foitnightly despatch of business. In the Wai den-> Court, which will also bo held on that day, an unpoitant mining case will be heaid (O'Hea v. the New Find (i.M. Com pany), in which th* plaintiff claims £13">. balance of money due on contract, and £200 damages. Mi W. F. Hunt occupied the bench in the Police Couit on Monday, but theie was only one case of diunkenness, in which the bacchanalian had to pay the cu-toin.uy penalty. The Hind of Hope people hid a giand gathoiing in the Town Hall on Tiu>sda\ evening. The Re\ Mi Mai-h ill, Chinch of Kngland ministci, ]nesided, and the Key. Mr Wills, of the Wesl.-yan Chinch, also occupied a seat on the plitforni. It was the most numeiously .ittended meeting of the kind that his taken place foi a length of time, the large hall being Mled to the door. The Resident Magistiate has very kindly gKinted the use of the couit-house one night a week until a suitable place can be found to meet in, and in a few days the menibeis will be called togethei to .mango as to future proceedings. Feiguson, who has recently leturned from Wellington, will be eiiteitained at a compliinentarv banquet, to be given to night at lawless' hotel, Waioiongomai, to celebrate the success of his mission to the seat of (Joy eminent in connection with procuiing the grant of money for the completion of the tramway to the now battery.
