The total quantity catalogued was 3.Vi,000 bales, of which the large proportion of 70,000 was withdrawn. This affords - «*-an-index of how unsatisfactory values Jiave been during the series. From the cable messago sent by our head office, we learn that the sales closed at an average decline of nearly 7h per cent, on the closing rates of last series," except for long-stapled merino light in the grease, for which the market is unchanged. For superior merino lambs', the market in firmer, while greasy coarse cioss-brcd is easier. The Home and German demand w good, but the inquiry from eisewhere in poor, excepting on American account, for merino long stapled light in giea-e, which in good (JOOO bales have been nought for America, and 139,000 for the Continent. Winter varieties arc held in many instances for 3/ and over buyeu meanwhile are disinclined to operate at that figure. Auckl\ND. — Wheat: The millers are fully stocked, and business is extremely quiet for this cereal. The arrivals for the month of Jnne reached a total of some 0,100 bags, but almost the whole of the shipments were millers' orders. Oats : The quantity arriving from southern potts has been fairly large, and we should say fully 7,500 bags entered this port during the past month. Prices are lower than havo been ruling for some time past, and it is with difficulty that 2s to 2s Id can ho obtained for primest samples, whilst inferior are •imply unsaleable.
