THE NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Wellington, Wednesday. At a meeting of the corcnioni.il commiltoe of the Exhibition to-night, the following progi ammo for opening was decided upon : —The Exhibition is to l)c opened by the Governor, who will bo lecoived with a salute and guaid of honour. Tho National Anthem will then bo sung, to bo followed by tho opening choius. Sir Julius Vogel will then deliver a speech, formally asking tho (Jon ci noi to declare thr> Exhibition open. It is aKo dicided that if tho committee f.iAouiably icpoit on Mi Thomas' c.mtiit.i, it u ill bo sung at the opening of the Home liidiixtiy Bianch, on August 22nd. In reg.nd t'> the band contest*, it was decided that tho fii^t perfmtnance should take place on the o])omng-ISntiud.iy night, and one band to play on each night, in the follow nu/ order: — Oamaiu, W«uif?anui, Wellington, Dunedin, Nelson, Ghiistchinch, Auckland, Invevcaigill, Timani. This order is hubject to .my alteration the sub coinimttee may make to huit the convenience of tho vaiious band.-). No stringed instruments will be allowed to tako pait in these contest*.
