KIHIKIHI.

Ay accident of .1 \ cry painful nature happened last Saturday wck to a little girl eight yenis did, a daughter of Mr \V. Howell. It appeal-, the child was playing with some <>thei cluldien near the house, when one of them went in and told Mrs How ell the child wms bleeding. She ran to the spot and found that the child had boon kicked on the head by «i hoi se, some of the biiins being literally kicked out. Dr. Blunden was sent for, and on his arrival he found a portion of the skull was missing, and two splinters of it, about two inched long, were driven right into the brain. Ho drew them out, apparently without pain to tho child, who did not appear to mind the matter \ery much. He also picked up about a teaspoooful of bi.nns. Where tha musing piece of the skull is it would be hard to say. The strangest part of the affair is the child i<* not only alive, but conscious and able to speak, and does not appear to be by any means as bad as one would expect from the serious nature of the wound. One would linigine th.it such a blow would reiult in instantaneous death ; it certainly would in the case of an adult. It is a case fordoctois to puzzle themselves over. I believe it w.is on the forehead the child wai kicked. At present the little one appears to be doing well. — (Own Conospondent.)
