The importance and even necessity to the northern portion of Now Zealand of such an undci taking cannot be questioned. No similar institution exibts in this provincial district winch is thus wholly dependent tor its supplies upon the woollen iactorics of the South Island and upon imports. It is moderately estimated that the quantity of material of the classes proposed to be manufactured, \\ liieh would find an immediate, outlet, would yearly exceed £250,000 — an amount sutlicicnt to yield a very handsome dividend upon the capital of tho company. The special natural advantages possessed by this district for cairying on and trading in manufactures of the classes propobed must of themselves form an essential element in tho success of the company, and pvc assurance that it will be able successfully to emulate the success of other factories already in operation in the South loland ; especially when it is considered that Auckland id surrounded by such excellent wool growing country as Gisborne, Napier, Wanganui, New Plymouth, Waikato and Kaipar.t, and many smaller diatucta adjacent to the city. The pro\ isional directors do not ventutc to afloiol nny data upon which to ground anticipations of profit, but will confidently appuil to the success which hat attended the Kniapoi and Mosgiel Woollen Companies, as offering a reasonable guarantee that the present undertaking w ill, under careful management, not be behind them in the leturns it will yield. It may be hcic mentioned that the dividends already paid by the above cony panics have pioved thc.t thero is ample room for the eUension of the woollen industry, and the directors do not hesitate in leconiniending the present enterprise to the attention of persons requiring legitimate investment of their money, whilst the advantages which they enjoy of being able to avoid crrois necessarily atising fiom iucxpciicnce, justify a hope that the works of tho company will be established ut a reasonable cost.
