Restoring a Lopped off Finger.

If a child is so unfortunate as to chop off one of his fingera with a meat axe it does not follow that ha is to remain mutilated for We. Dr. Fave, of Finiatere, waa called to one whoso first finger was hanging by a small piece of akin. Not being willing to do surgical work at night, he put the finger in plaoo and braced it with a couple of corset bones. Next day the finger was doing so well that he did not disturb it. In four days there was evidence of union, in ten days the ohild oould move the finger, and in a month he waa completely cured. No stitches were used. Dr. Fave thinks that there is too much hasty Burgery, and the editor of the Journal de Medicine, in agreement with him, aaya that with modorn surgical dressings fingers may often be Bayed, even when completely severed.

Gwhux Soup.T-Tho giblets from two or three chickens or two turkeys ; one medium sized onion, one small carrot, half ft Urge turnip, two stalks of oelery, two quarto of water, one of Btrong stock of any kind, two largo tableapoonfula of butter, two of flour, little ealt and pepper to taste; one or two loavea of parsley and a leaf of Bage. Put chopped giblets on in two quarts of water, boil to one quart ; now add the stock. Cut vegetables Bmall.fry in the butter until tender (about fifteen minutes), then stir in the flout until it browns. Turn into the soup and senson ; cook another half hour, serve with dice of fried bread,
