THURSDAY. Tho House met at half past two p.m. Sir J. Vogel gave notice to introduce tho Hospital and Chant ible Aid Bill, .mil a . Jiil to abolish duty <>n gold. Replying to Mi Cowan, If tho Piemier will, vv'ith the view of rehc\ mer tho depression under which the agucultural industry of the country is suffering, bung in a Bill w ith provisions to meet tho case sinnl.tr to those which were embodied in the Colonial Reciprocity Act, 1870, Sir J. Yogel said that at a later stage of tho session, when the financial proposals of the Government weie bafoic tho House, it might bo considered what power should bo gnen to tho Government in tins duoction. Several Bill were introduced. Mr Menteath moved for a return showing —(1) The aggregate of Totes taken last session on public works appiopuations, appoitioned according to the electoral districts, and where the moneys voted were to bo expended ; (2) the woiks within each electoral district upon which such money-, \oted as above weie to bo expended; (3) the moneys actually paid from all sources, including unauthorised evpendituie, and including payments made under the Roads and Budges Construction Act, and Ciovvn and Native Lands Rating Act in each electoral district ; (I) the contracts on which Government are liable, apportiontd to each electoral district ; (.1) the population and .icieago of each electoral district. Sir J. Vogel said tho preparation of tho return would involve such a laigp amount of labour that the Government would have to oppose it. After some discussion, tho motion was withdrawn. . Mr Rolleston ino\ed that there be laid before the House copies of the mles of any co operative freehold land association re gi-tered undei the Industrial and Provident Society's Act, 1877. The motion was agreed to. Mr Bryco nnved for a return showing tho number of blocks of n.tti\e land, the title to which ha.s been detei mined by the Native iAinds Court fioni the time of its ueatron to the 3M March, ISS">, with the aiea and number of owners of each block respectively. The motion was agreed to. The House went into committee on the Canterbury and Otago Maui.iges Bill, which passed without amendment, and was read a third time and pa^ed. The House went into committee on the Patent Act, ISS3, Amendment Bill. Mi Stout moved to amend clause 2 by making it si\ months instead of twelve, as the time within which application foi a patent mint be made from the date of the opening of tho Inhibition. The amendment \vai agieed to, and the Bill was i epoi ted with amendment, read a thud time and paused.
