The match was after a hard .stiuggle won bv the Hamilton East boys, who ncoied throe tries or mx points. Cambridge could nut scoiu at all. On this occasion the Canibndge boys had their beet te.im m held, and when flipped they looked \ery well indeed. In fact both sides seemed about even, of tlie two wo believe that the Cambridge team was the heavier. One of the Hamilton boys was absent ; by per mission of tho Cambridge captain, Heitio Hume was taken on us a substitute, and .1 right good one he made ; though the smallest player he distinguished himself hcu-r.il time-. The following were the teams : -Hamilton X i-.t, K. Sedrlon (cviit.xin), 1). (telling, M. Hume, F. Yon Sturmei, H. Hunio, <J. Vincent, H. Hume, A. Heed, W. Celling, A. Oir, C. Le^uesne, .T. Scrummages followed one auothei fast, and Hamilton lost ground. When the ball wan near then goal line, they made a null and drove it into the middle of the field. During this time the Hamilton backs Jf. Hume, K. Seddon, and C. Le had plenty of woik, but did not allow any one to get pa^t them. H. Se-ddon played very coolly, and moio than once during the game saved Hamilton's goal, and them was no getting out of his gup. When the play wa more open, M. Hume, Nickisson, and 1. I)a\ies did good l tinning, but could not get through Cambridge backs. For Cambridge, F. Hurt and<J. Heaney ran well ; the latter was collared by H. Hume. At the end of the first twenty minutes neither side had xcuied. After live minutes interval, play was lcsumed. The ball was once more in the Hamilton.'* twentv-fhe, and though C. As soon an thn ball was in play it was taken light aeros h the field, the Hamilton forwaid-., (idling, Nickisson, and Orr backed up well, and when near the Cambudgc line Nicki«sou picked tlie ball up, ran in and got a touch-down. Shoitly aftei Cambi idge was foiced down. In the thud twenty, the play was very fast. C. Hull was brought down by H.'Hume (the " little one. ) Y. Hurt got well away, and was close to the goal lino when ttedrion stopped him, C Hull made a splendid run, and had only M. ]f unto in fiont, but he could not not get past, Hume pulling him down. A. l{e«d and.!. Ly»m made desperate iusJip-, to get thioiigh tho Cambridge, backs. The thud twenty ended without any further scoiing. hi the third twenty, Ueid got the ball and ran close to tho Cambridge goal line liefme lie was stopped. In the scrummage tho ball was worked out, and H. Hnmc got hold of it, dodged two or three player*, and necnred the next try. Tho kick at goal was a failure. After the kick-off Kd. Walker niado tho run of the day, fiom the middle of the field to the Hamilton goal line, where ho was tumbled over by !(. Hume. The ball was then driven to the Cambridge goal hue, when T. 1) ivies ian in and touched down — tho thiid tiy. Tho kick at goal, bko the others, was a fnilme. (i. Heaney once moie noaily got in, but A. On and ttoddon upset hmi. All through tho game M. Humo ran splendidly. He wan always on the ball, and certainly did not get the luck he deserved. A. Oir, W. Celling and F. Yon Stuimei did haul w oik, and we hope to soo them •.core at tho next match. The game was desperate from .start to finish, and was won by individual and collective good play. Of course, the.re were faultH on both sides, and plenty of them. Hamilton did n>t expect to meet such a heavy team, but they rose to the occasion. Messrs J.
