Eathrixdoi:., late clerk of the Land Bond here, received a testimonal from the citi/ens and Civil servants, also from the Board for his twelve years' services. He leaves for Auckland tomorrow to occupy a position there as chieg clerk to the Crown 1 anda Office. His departure is generally legretted. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. At a property sale to-day, Mr C. Clark sold the freehold of a corner section with 103 feet frontage on C'elombo street, having a row of wooden shops thereon, for £3750. A similar section, with 100 and 120 feet frontage, sold for £20,")0. A stoic in Manchester-street sold for £1100, A block of 144 acres, with dwelling* house, at Opawa, about two miles from Chnstchurch, fetched £2000. DUNEDIN, Thursday At the Harbour Board it was decided to take no steps at present towards making the dock at Port Chalmers until they saw where the revenue was to come from. Notice of motion was then given, " That the Government be requested to tike over the trust fiom the Board, and select nnotl er body for the construction of the dock." NELSON, Thms'lny. A boarding house, known as Rose Lodge, in the occnpition of R. Snelhm?, was destroyed by fire at three o'clock this morning. Very little was saved. The building was owned by Mrs Askew, and was insured in the Mercantile Union for £850. The furniture was insured for £300, but the office is unknown.
