THE HAMILTON EAST POST OFFICE.
In the face of the strongly-e\prebsed desire of the people of H.unilton East and Kirikiriro.:, given a year ago, the Post.il Department has made another attempt to close th's oHice, and have a second time been obliged to withdraw from the position. Within the last few daya the Post OHice has i)een transferred from Mr Le Quesiie's «toie to th At of Messrs Dey and Fiench, and the necessary arrangements for carrytiii; on the business have been made at the latter place. But while the change was being nude, the Chief Postmaster caused enquiries to be made with a view to abolishing the Post OHice altogether, and this coming to the ears of the public, general indignation resulted. Telegrams were at once forwarded to Mr Biss protesting against the proposed action, and yesterday a reply was received to the effect th.it the office would be kept open. Mr Bias regrets that an impiesMon that the office wai to be corned should have gained cuiiency, but this is i ldiculous, as it is well known that such was the intention of the Dcp.ut'nent. However, "All's, well th.it enrls well. '
