The introduction of the shilling t.vriff for ten word telegrams between Victoria and New South Walt is proved a splendid .success, the traffic having increased fully one-third, while the falling off in the revenue department lias been slight. Negotiations have been progressing with New Zealand telegraph departments to reduce their thare of revenue to sivpenee per ten words, in order to admit of a rate between Victoria, th.it colony being reduced to seven, but up to the present time they ha\ c refused, although Victoria strongly urges its acceptance.
