WAIKATO HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A iih n\i. of the membeis of the society was held at the Watk.ito Times Umldiugs, Hamilton, on Thursday. There wai a good attendance, .md the chair was occupied by Mr T. Wells. After some routine business had been transacted, a general discussion arose regarding tho propriety of altering rule (», which makes provision for tho constitution of tho cnuiuntteo of manugement V>y Mib-comnuttec elected by the inonibers in each of the centres of population on .1 numeiical bawis. It was eventually decided that the subjoct wan one of great importance and required much consideration. On the motion of Mr Noithaoft, seconded by Major Wilson, tho following resolution was carried :— " That a committee be formed to draft a rule in lieu of Rule 0, to be submitted to a meeting to bo called for Friday next, the 22nd inst., at 2 p.m., at tho samo place, the committee to consist of Me.sM.-fW. M. Hay, (}. Edgecumbe, L. O'Neill, and Noithcioft. "' The idea of holding a .Spring show was abandoned, as seveial of thobe present pointed out that the distri'-t was not yet in a position to make it probable that the number of exhibits would be sufficient to make it buccessful. On the motion of Mr Wells, seconded by Mr O'Neill, a vote of thank* wan accoided to the members of the late committee for the able manner in which they had conducted the society's business, moie especially in t!iet\u l yingout of the«iriangement i > in connection with the Lite show. A vote of thanks to the ch.uiman lnonght the proceedings to a close.
