JAiur men, named Kea (-.enr.), Ken (jimr.), Colquhoun and John James, started from Tamru fi>r tho Piako in an o\>cn boat, during a severe noith-westerly g.»l»\ Tho bout waH not seen to eapsue, but late in tho afternoon steamer* reported having observed wreckage at the mouth of the Tliaium River. The boat watt found tin's jnorning in midchannel, bottom upwardf, but no »ign of the occupnntn. No hope is entertained for their Hafcty, though tho aailn, fowlingpieces, rudder and proviaiona have boon recovered. The whulo community in .tctivcly taking part in the ncarch for tho bodiex. The elder inon wero married, and leave families unprovided for. A later telcgiam says .—About thirty moil aro dragging tlic slwlldwb of the river in Hoarch of tho bodies of tlie missing men.
